The O’Gara School of Irish Dance was formed in January 2006 when Viv O’Gara passed her TCRG exam. As of Jan 2008 the school had grown to over 100 pupils in the short space of two years. In 2011 the School had expanded to such an extent that Viv decided to teach full time. In 2013 Claire Saxon passed her TCRG and now also teaches at the school.
The School continued to grow and in January 2016 Viv decided to approach Kathleen Maguire from the much respected Maguire O'Shea Academy regarding a merge. More teachers were needed to cope with the ever increasing demand and it was in April 2016 that the O'Gara School became part of the Maguire O'Shea Academy. The merge has brought a wealth of world class resources to the school.
The school's aim is to teach as many children as possible the wonderful art of Irish dancing whilst having fun and keeping costs to a minimum. Classes are based in Reading or Didcot and the school is registered with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha which is the world-wide governing body for Irish Dancing.
